SWEDISH MASSAGE
This is a massage designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation using strokes that all flow toward the heart. Oil or lotion is applied to reduce friction on the skin. Swedish massage is exceptional for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension. The many benefits of Swedish massage include overall relaxation, improved circulation, and possible dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
This type of massage affects the sub-layer of muscle and tissues. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. It is generally integrated with other massage techniques.
ACUPRESSURE
Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Acupuncture and acupressure use the same points, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses the gentle, but firm pressure. Acupressure can help relieve headaches, eye strain, sinus problems, neck pain, backaches, arthritis, muscle aches, tension due to stress, ulcer pain, menstrual cramps, lower backaches, constipation, and indigestion. Acupressure is a way to balance the body and maintain good health. The healing touch of acupressure reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. By relieving stress, acupressure strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness. In acupressure, local symptoms are considered an expression of the condition of the body as a whole. Acupressure focuses on relieving pain and discomfort, as well as responding to tension, before it develops into disease.
SPORTS MASSAGE
Sports massage is designed to enhance athletic performance and recovery. This massage can be useful to an athlete three ways: pre-event, post-event, and injury treatment. Pre-event is fast-paced and stimulating, it helps to establish blood flow and to warm up muscles. Post-event massage is used to calm the nervous system and begin the process of flushing toxins and waste products out of the body. Post-event massage can reduce recovery time, enabling an athlete to resume training much sooner than rest alone would allow. With an injury, sports massage can often speed and improve the quality of healing.
HOT STONE MASSAGE
Stones of all shapes and sizes and varying temperatures, ranging from zero to 140 degrees, are used to elicit physical healing, and mental and physical relaxation. Warm stones encourage the exchange of blood and lymph and provide soothing heat for deep-tissue work. Stones are placed in varying positions on the body for energy balancing or may be used by the therapist for specific trigger-point work. Hot and cold stones may be alternated to aid the healing process for injuries.
PRENATAL/PREGNANCY MASSAGE
Performed after the first trimester of pregnancy. Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Skilled, appropriate touch facilitates labor, shortening labor times and easing pain and anxiety. In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology, and emotions of the new mother and may help her to bond with and care for her infant.
INFANT MASSAGE INSTRUCTION
I teach parents how to properly massage their infants. Infant massage can be used in hospital neonatal care units. This type of massage helps in the critical weight gain of premature infants, and also in creating a strong bond between parent and infant and exposing a young child to the benefits and pleasures of touch. Babies massaged regularly have less colic, and have sleep better.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
A trigger point is an area of a muscle that refers pain sensations to other parts of the body. Trigger Point Therapy applies pressure to these points leading to immediate release of tension and improved muscular functioning. This work is incorporated into other styles of massage therapy.
CHAIR MASSAGE
Known as seated massage, chair massage, or on-site massage, this technique involves the use of a specially designed massage chair in which the client sits comfortably. Chair massage includes bodywork and massage techniques, such as shiatsu, acupressure, and Swedish massage, provided to the fully clothed client. Studies show massage therapy in the workplace increases productivity and employee morale, lowers the incidence of illness, and decreases absenteeism. Could chair massage enhance your business productivity? Call to add this feature to your business or to treat guests at any event or party. Group rates available.
FOOT REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the foot that correspond to other parts of the body. This bodywork involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. Similar to acupressure, reflexology works with the body’s energy flow to stimulate self-healing and maintain balance in physical function. This technique is used to reduce pain, increase relaxation, and stimulate circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. It is especially useful in stress-related illness and emotional disorders. Reflexology is also convenient in cases where an area of the body is traumatized or diseased.
REIKI
Reiki healing is a hands-on energy healing art. In a reiki session, the healing energy is activated within receptive points on the body. The therapist’s hands move progressively with a passive touch through positions on the body, remaining in each for three to five minutes.
SHIATSU
Shiatsu is a finger-pressure technique utilizing traditional acupressure points. This technique concentrates on unblocking the flow of life energy and restoring balance in the meridians and organs in order to promote self-healing. Pressure is applied with the finger, thumb, palm, elbow, knee or foot to specific zones on the skin located along the energy meridians. The treatment brings about a sense of relaxation while stimulating blood and lymphatic flow. The benefits of this treatment may include pain relief and a strengthening of the body’s resistance to disease and disorder.
DREAMY DETOX MASSAGE
Soothing detoxifying warm clay mud is painted on your back and covered with warm towels to get rid of impurities and toxins within your body. While the warm clay mud is calming and extracting the contaminants from pollution, stress and modern living enjoy a relaxing massage. The clay is cleaned off during your massage and you leave stress-free, refreshed, purified, and dreamy.
SALT GLOW EXFOLIATING MASSAGE
Also known as a sea-salt scrub. This is an exfoliating treatment that takes place on a massage table covered with a sheet and a large, thin piece of plastic. As you lay on your stomach, the massage therapist rubs a mixture of sea salt, oil, and essential oils into your skin. This exfoliates the skin and leaves it feeling velvety soft. Once your whole body is scrubbed, which takes maybe ten or fifteen minutes, you either shower it all off without soap or it is washed off your body, leaving a nice coating of oil. It’s an invigorating treatment, and it’s a good idea to get your scrub before your massage if you’re having both.
DETOXIFYING BODY WRAP
You’re wrapped with clay soaked cloths then wrapped in a thermal blanket and left to enjoy a relaxing head and foot massage while detoxifying. This treatment stimulates your metabolic system, speeding its ability to carry away waste products. These treatments also promote permanent inch loss when at least four treatments are done in weekly succession.
DETOXIFYING SPOT WRAP
This is the same as the Detoxifying Body Wrap, but is done only on problem areas and used predominantly for inch loss in those areas. It is recommended to have at least four wraps one week apart to achieve this goal.
EAR CANDLING
Excessive earwax buildup can cause discomfort, headaches, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), or vertigo. Ear candling is a natural, non-intrusive procedure that may help alleviate the painful effects of chronic headaches or sinus conditions, ear infections, allergies or vertigo, as well as minor hearing loss due to excessive earwax build up. It is believed as the candle burns, gentle warm smoke is drawn into the ear canal that softens and loosens candida, wax, and other debris through osmosis. This means anything on the other side of the eardrum turns into a gas form to pass through the ear drum membrane. It is then collected into the remaining unburned portion of the candle.
DETOXIFYING FOOT BATH
The ionic detoxifying foot bath aids in total body purification, rebalancing the body at a cellular level, through a tranquil (yet stimulating!) foot bath session. Treatments are considered by many practitioners to be the most effective way to balance, re-energize, and detoxify the body. Today, there is an unprecedented growth in the use of chemicals, pesticides, additives, derivatives, and other forms of toxic substances that enter our body and start attacking it. This foot bath removes these toxins and leaves you feeling wonderfully refreshed and rejuvenated.
NOTE: The detoxifying foot bath is not suitable for those who have either lost or gained an organ. People who are fitted with electronic devices like pacemaker or have a metal joint in any part cannot undergo body detoxification through use of a detoxifying foot bath.
